Troops Neutralise Two Terrorists, Recover Arms in Taraba

Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), have neutralised two terrorists and recovered arms and ammunition in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State. The operation, conducted on 15 September 2025, was part of the ongoing Operation Lafiya Nakowa aimed at eliminating criminal groups across the state.

Acting on credible intelligence of a planned attack on the Chanchanji community by the Bojo terrorist group, troops swiftly mobilised to the area and engaged the attackers along the Demeva–Chanchanji road. One terrorist was killed during the firefight, forcing the others to retreat.

In a follow-up operation, troops intercepted the fleeing fighters along the Demeva–Gbudu axis, identified as their planned crossing point into Ananum community in Donga LGA. A second exchange of fire led to the neutralisation of another terrorist.

Recovered items included:

One G3 rifle

Sixteen rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition

One motorcycle

The Commander, 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their gallantry and professionalism. He reiterated the Brigade’s determination to sustain aggressive operations against all criminal elements threatening the peace of Taraba State.

Brigadier General Uwa also urged residents to remain vigilant and support security forces with timely and credible information to aid ongoing efforts at restoring lasting peace in the region.
