HOW BOKO HARAM/ISWAP TAX FISHERMEN AROUND LAKE CHAD BASIN TO FUND TERRORISM

Boko Haram/ISWAP faction located around the Lake Chad Basin are raising funds to sustain their acts of terror by taxing the local fishermen operating in the axis, Eons Intelligence investigation has revealed.

It has been gathered that the over 2,000 fishermen who are still engaged in fishing in the Lake Chad Basin raise over 1,000 bags of fish per day and are forced to pay N2,000 on each bags of fish processed.

The fish farmers are divided into different groups with each group controlled by an appointed Amir. ThĂ© responsibility of the Amir is to coordinate funding taxation for ISWAP insurgents units in that location.

Sources say the Jihadists are building more fishing boats, with timbers woods they bought from Maiduguri and have moved into the Niger Republic through Gigime and Kaulaha villages.

Sources confirmed that ISWAP insurgents are still making hundreds of millions from these activities which enables them to generate more fundings and buy weapons to continue their campaign of terror.
