LAGOS ORDERS OWNERS OF ILLEGAL STRUCTURES AND CONTAINERISED SHOPS AROUND FAGBA/OKO-OBA ENVIRONS TO VACATE WITHIN 7 DAYS

The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit has ordered owners/occupiers of illegal structures, shanties, and containerised shops around Fagba, abattoir, new Oko-Oba to remove them with their belongings within 7 days.

The Chairman of the Agency, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi said over 2500 illegal structures/shanties including containerised shops in the highlighted areas have been served a 'Removal Order'.

CSP Egbeyemi fingered occupants of these illegal shanties as miscreants and hoodlums who burnt and destroyed both public and private properties along that axis during the last communal clash.

He further stated that the hoodlums have become a security threat as residents in the area could no longer sleep peacefully at night.

"It was an eye-sore with miscreants and hoodlums freely smoking Indian hemp including underage boys around the area"

"You will recall that as part on-spot assessment of the extent of destruction of both public and private properties by miscreants and hoodlums during the last protest Governor Babajide and CP Hakeem Odumosu visited Fagba along Abattoir new Oko-Oba area"

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police CP Hakeem has ordered the prosecution of any hoodlum arrested flouting this directive after the expiration of the 7-day ultimatum, CSP Egbeyemi said.

The development is coming less than a month after the communal clash between the Yoruba and Hausa Community in Fagba Ifako-Ijaye leading to the destruction of properties worth millions of naira.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu during his visit to the area said the hard and very decisive on miscreant if they refuse to turn a new leaf.
