THIRD MAINLAND BRIDGE: LAGOS TO CLOSE OWORONSHOKI LANE ON SATURDAY

The Lagos State Government has announced plans to shut the Oworonshoki bound lane of the Third Mainland Bridge by midnight Saturday, February 6 till 7 pm on Sunday.


Dr Fredric Oladeinde, the state Commissioner for Transportation said the closure was vital to enable the contractor to move their equipment to the Oworonshoki bound lane without vehicular interruptions. 


Dr Oladeinde assured commuters that traffic management personnel would be deployed to minimise and address traffic incidents that may arise during the closure. 


He also advised commuters to use the following alternative routes: 


“Motorists from Ogudu, Alapere and Gbagada are advised to use Ikorodu Road, Jibowu and Yaba as alternative routes, while Iyana Oworonsoki bound traffic from the Lagos Island, Iddo, Oyingbo, Adekunle and Yaba should use Herbert Macaulay Way, Jibowu and Ikorodu road as alternative routes."

The Third Mainland Bridge has been partially closed since July 24, 2020, for a repair scheduled to last for 6 months but was later extended by a month due to disruptions caused by the ENDSARS protest.
