13 Killed in Suspected Herdsmen Attack on Benue Community
Thirteen people were killed on Sunday morning in a suspected herdsmen attack on Azege settlement, Mbaya, Tombo Ward of Logo Local Government Area, Benue State.
The immediate past Caretaker Chairman of Logo LGA, Benjamin Uzenda, confirmed the incident, stating it occurred around 7 a.m.
According to Uzenda, the attackers, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the village and opened fire on residents preparing for morning church service. He described the attack as "coordinated and planned," revealing that some victims were butchered after being shot, including women and children.
The attackers also set properties ablaze and destroyed farmlands in the area, Uzenda added. He noted they operated for hours before fleeing, shortly before the arrival of security forces.
