60 RESIDENTS KILLED AS BANDITS RAID BUKKUYUM AND ANKA LGAS OF ZAMFARA
Reports indicate that 60 persons were killed across four villages in Bukkuyum and Anka LGAs of Zamfara.
Some of the affected communities were Kurfa Danya, Kurfa Magaji Rafin Gero, Tungar Isa and Barayar Zaki in Bukkuyum and Anka Local Government Areas of the state.
Sources say the assailants in their large numbers stormed the villages in motorcycles, shooting sporadically and razing several houses and food stores, forcing residents, mostly women and children to scamler for safety.
It was gathered that some of the residents who fled the communities, sustained injuries, and are currently seeking refuge at Nassarawa Burkullu community.
This is coming after Intelligence reports indicate that Bandits from Zamfara led by some of its Commanders, Kachalla Halilu & Na-Bello, have relocated to the Birnin Gwari road due to the intensive offensive operations conducted by troops in Zamfara.
It is believed that the bandits are setting up camps due to the density of the forest to shield them from the precision of airstrikes that have killed several in recent days in this area. Commuters are advised to avoid plying this route and use alternative routes.
It should be recalled that Bandits kingpin, Turji Bello, released over 50 captives in what was seen as a peace move. Also, Alhaji Ado Aleru, a notorious Bandits Commander in the State released several kidnapped victims in his captivity on Wednesday.
