FOUR INMATES DEAD AS SECURITY OPERATIVES FOIL JAILBREAK ATTACK IN OSUN
Reports indicate that four inmates have been confirmed dead at the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Kosere area of Ile-Ife, Osun State, during an attempted jailbreak.
The incident occurred around 9am on Tuesday morning.
It was gathered that some inmates had planned to escape during the morning sanitation, but while attempting to flee the centre, they injured a warder.
Sources say the inmates were about to force their way out of the correctional facility but were met repelled by security forces, who killed four of them.
The spokesperson of Osun State Police Command, SP Yemisi Opalola confirmed the attempted jailbreak.
She said: “There was attempted jailbreak at Correctional Centre, Ile-Ife but information about it is not yet available.”
