Peaceful Coexistence: 6 Brigade Nigerian Army Holds Peace Dialogue Among Fulani, Bandawa, Munga Lelau, and Munga Dosso Communities
In a renewed effort to foster peaceful coexistence among diverse ethnic groups in Taraba State, the Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, conducted an operational visit to Karim Lamido Local Government Area (LGA) on Tuesday, 5 August 2025.
The visit featured a strategic peace dialogue involving representatives from the Fulani, Bandawa, Munga Lelau, and Munga Dosso communities. Held at the Karim Lamido LGA Secretariat, the meeting brought together key stakeholders including community elders, traditional rulers, and religious leaders.
The engagement followed a peace accord signed on 30 June 2025, which had been recently violated by some factions. In response, Brigadier General Uwa initiated renewed dialogue aimed at rebuilding trust, resolving grievances, and averting further conflict.
Addressing participants, Brigadier General Uwa emphasized unity, dialogue, and shared responsibility in addressing security concerns. He urged all groups to set aside differences and commit to open, honest engagement. Condemning any form of lawlessness, he stated, “We must all embrace peace and work together to restore harmony in our communities.”
The Chairman of Karim Lamido LGA, Hon. Birtrus Dan Jos, also lauded the commander’s commitment to peacebuilding, noting his physical presence despite the poor road conditions from Jalingo. “His dedication reflects the Nigerian Army’s genuine interest in community welfare and stability,” the Chairman said.
At the end of the dialogue, all parties reaffirmed their commitment to the earlier peace agreement. Resolutions adopted included the continuation of dialogue among communities, support for peacebuilding efforts, rejection of criminal elements, and full cooperation with security agencies.
The event was attended by respected traditional and religious leaders, the Chairman of Karim Lamido LGA, and representatives from all concerned ethnic groups.
Brigadier General Uwa reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to security, mutual understanding, and lasting peace across Taraba State.
