ACCESS BANK SHUTS ONNE BRANCH AFTER TWO MEMBERS OF STAFF TESTS POSITIVE TO COVID-19 AND 1 DIE

The Access Bank branch at Onne, Rivers State, has shut down operations after two members of staff tests positive to Coronavirus and another dies from Coronavirus complications. 


 Immediately management got wind of the development, Access bank shutdown the branch and ensured that all members of staff got tested.

 

Samples of all staff members were collected for testing, and results are expected to come out today, June 17, report says.

Sources say that contact tracing is ongoing to identify those who might have had contact with the deceased.


Tho location where the bank is situated has at least five other banks on that road, and most of them have the same customers. Therefore, there is panic among the members of staff of the surrounding banks.

 

While commending Access bank for swiftly shutting down the branch and ensuring all staff members are tested, observers hope that the management of the banks whose offices are in that location would also put in place measures to ensure the safety of their staff members.  

 

Customers who have visited the bank in the last two weeks are strongly advised to self-isolate to avoid community spread of the virus. 

 

 According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), as of Tuesday, June 16, Rivers State has recorded 631 cases of COVID-19 with 244 recoveries and 25 deaths.
