Tinubu’s Türkiye Visit: Nigerian Defence Chiefs Tour ASELSAN, Seek Advanced Military Partnerships
As part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s official visit to Türkiye, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, alongside the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has visited ASELSAN, Türkiye’s foremost defence electronics company, to explore opportunities for enhanced military cooperation.
The Nigerian defence chiefs were received by Türkiye’s President of Defence Industries, Mr Haluk Görgün, during the visit, which focused on strengthening defence and technology partnerships between both countries.
General Musa disclosed that the delegation undertook hands-on inspections of various defence systems and engaged in discussions on existing collaborations as well as prospects for expanded defence synergy. ASELSAN is renowned for its expertise in military communications, radar, surveillance, and electronic systems across land, air, and naval platforms.
He noted that the engagement aligns with Nigeria’s strategic drive to boost its defence capabilities through partnerships, technology transfer, and access to modern indigenous defence solutions.
According to the CDS, the visit offered critical insights into advanced defence electronics that could further reinforce Nigeria’s security framework. He reaffirmed Nigeria’s readiness to deepen defence relations with Türkiye, particularly in training, research, production, and systems integration.
