Adamawa Governor Imposes 24-Hour Curfew in Lamurde After Renewed Communal Unrest
Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area following a fresh outbreak of communal violence.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Monday by Hussaini Hammangabdo, Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor. According to the statement, Governor Fintiri has directed security agencies to immediately deploy personnel to the affected communities to restore calm and ensure public safety.
“The Adamawa State Government has placed Lamurde Local Government Area under a 24-hour curfew with immediate effect after a renewed communal clash erupted on Sunday evening,” the statement read.
It further noted that security operatives have been mandated to move into the troubled locations without delay to re-establish peace and order.
Residents were urged to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security personnel as government works to prevent any further escalation of the situation.
