Anambra Police Warn Against Spread of False Security Reports, Vow to Expose Offenders
The Anambra State Police Command has issued a stern warning against the deliberate dissemination of false or exaggerated security reports aimed at causing public panic and undermining law enforcement efforts in the state.
In a statement released as part of its ongoing security assessment, the Command expressed concern over the activities of individuals and groups using social media and other platforms to share misleading information. It described such actions as malicious and counterproductive, noting that they erode public trust and disrupt security operations.
The Command stated that anyone found responsible for spreading false or inciting content to discredit security agencies will be investigated, exposed, and prosecuted under the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015 and other applicable laws.
Residents were urged to avoid sharing unverified information and to support security efforts by reporting suspicious activities via official police channels.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Anambra State while maintaining transparency and professionalism in its operations.
