ANOTHER VIDEO OF KIDNAPPERS THREATENING TO KILL THEIR VICTIMS FOR RANSOM EMERGES SIGNALING A DISTURBING TREND
Less than a week after a viral video of a Nigerian man getting brutalized in Pakistan by suspected members of a drug cartel, another video of Kidnappers threatening to kill their victims if a ransom is not promptly paid have emerged, signalling a disturbing trend.
The new video is of a man and an elderly woman- both blindfolded and tied with a gun placed on top of them. A voice can be heard saying “Prof, we give you 24 hrs to talk to us. Not that your stupid barrister.” The kidnapper threatened to kill the victims at the expiration of 24 hours.
The video is believed to have been captured in a creek in Calabar. A criminal expert and security analyst Obaji Raymond confirmed to Eons Intelligence that the video fits the behaviour of a copycat crime as South-South kidnappers are not known for sending such videos.
“Yes, Copycatism is a recurring thing in the criminal world. Once a particular criminal gang has used a particular model, and it is perceived that it has worked for them, others try it too,” he said.
“We have reasons to believe that they are copying what the Arabs are doing in Crime.”
Raymond said the Kidnap cases are technology-based and as it would involve pinpointing the exact location of the kidnappers and victims.
Nigeria Technologically Equipped To Solve Kidnap For Ransom Cases
The emerging kidnap for ransom cases in Nigeria would not last for long as the country’s security officers are technologically equipped to combat and nip such crimes in the bud. The country boasts of a sophisticated IT unit with specialists who can conduct real-time tracking.
Last month, Eons Intelligence reported that a man in Port Harcourt was rescued from kidnappers suspected to be Fulani Bandits in Port Harcourt, Rivers State thanks to the Intelligence Response Team’s sophisticated use of technology.
