APAPA GRIDLOCK: LAGOS STATE TO RESTRICT TRAILERS FROM PLYING SOME ROADS WITHIN THE STATE, BAN DAY MOVEMENT
The Lagos State Government has proposed the implementation of route restrictions for trailers and articulated vehicles within the state.
A dedicated route has also been mapped for trucks to ply strictly between 9:00 PM and 6 am daily.
This was disclosed on Wednesday, at the stakeholder's meeting with representatives of the Truck Driver Unions.
Dr Frederic Oladeinde, the Commissioner for Transportation disclosed that the move was necessary as the gridlock caused by activities of truck and trailer drivers in Apapa has rendered the road less profitable for investors.

Some of the roads that would be restricted to trucks and articulated vehicles include Ikorodu road, Maryland, Costain, and Funsho Williams Avenue.
Clarifying vehicles the fall under these restrictions, Engr. Abdulhafis Toriola, Director Transport Operations said any vehicle above 6ft with three sets of number plates is considered a trailer and an articulated vehicle.
Mr Oluwatoyin Fayinka, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation declared that non-compliance will be met with the full weight of the law.
