ARMED FORCES IN NIGER INTERCEPTS SUSPECTED SAHEL TERRORISTS ON TRANSIT TO NIGERIA
The armed forces in Niger on Saturday, August 8, intercepted men suspected to be Sahel terrorists.
The suspected terrorists who were heavily armed were intercepted in the vicinity of Galmi, Tahoua.
Galmi is a village in Niger close to Sokoto, usually used as a transit area for criminal groups.
According to local sources, a citizen who found the behaviour of the suspected criminals raised the alarm, drawing the attention of the Defense and Security Forces (SDF).

The Security forces immediately immobilised the heavily armed bandits, neutralising two of the gunmen.
The SDF arrested four of the gunmen and recovered weapons, including a war rifle, and the Hilux van the bandits were commuting in.
The Niger authorities are investigating the true identity of the arrested suspects to determine if they are arm traffickers, terrorists or bandits.
