BREAKING: FG ORDERS CLOSURE OF SCHOOLS NATIONWIDE TILL JANUARY 18, CIVIL SERVANTS BELOW GRADE 12 TO STAY AT HOME

The Federal Government has ordered the closure of all schools nationwide to remain closed until January 18, and all civil servants below Grade 12 to stay at home for the next five weeks.

This was announced by Boss Mustapha, chairman of the Presidential Task force (PTF) on COVID-19 on Monday, December 21.

He stated that virtual meetings should be encouraged in all Government offices during this period.

The PTF Chairman noted that closure of the schools until January 18th is to allow the COVID-19 prevention measures introduced to take effect in the learning institutions.

Mustapha also said all persons above the age of 60 years are to avoid crowds. He also said non-essential travels - both domestic and international during the holiday season are strongly discouraged.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) also said President Muhammadu Buhari has authorised the return of most of the initial restrictions imposed earlier in the year for the prevention of the spread of the Novel Coronavirus.

Among the re-introduced restrictions and regulations are closure of most public places and social events, including religious, occupational and recreational activities.
