Top Boko Haram/ISWAP Commander Abu Fatima Killed in Borno Operation

Special Forces under Operation HADIN KAI have eliminated a key Boko Haram/ISWAP commander, Amir Abu Fatima, and several of his lieutenants in a major counter-terrorism operation conducted on May 30, 2025.

The targeted assault took place in the Kukawa axis of Northern Borno State, following credible intelligence on the terrorists' hideout. Abu Fatima, who had a N100 million bounty on his head, was fatally shot during an intense exchange of gunfire. His deputy, explosives experts, and several other fighters were also killed in the confrontation.

Troops recovered AK-47 rifles, loaded magazines, improvised explosive device (IED) materials, and assorted ordnance from the scene. Notably, the operation was executed without casualties on the side of the Armed Forces.

The success marks a significant blow to the leadership structure of Boko Haram/ISWAP and reinforces the military’s commitment to restoring peace and security in Nigeria’s North East.
