ABDUCTORS OF FORMER AKWA IBOM SENATOR DEMAND N200M RANSOM
Abductors of former Akwa Ibom Senator, Nelson Effiong, have demanded a N200M ransom for his liberty.
Eons Intelligence had reported last week that gunmen stormed the lounge on September 6 and shot sporadically, injuring about eight persons. The senator who represented Eket Senatorial District (Akwa Ibom South) in the Eight National Assembly was eventually whisked away by three hoodlums in a Toyota Camry car.
Reports on Thursday indicate that the kidnappers have contacted the family demanding for a N200M ransom for the former Senator to be released.
The Akwa Ibom Police PRO, Superintendent Odiko Macdon, has stated that the Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr Amiengheme Andrew, condemned the abduction of the former federal lawmaker.
He noted that the Police boss has deployed security personnel to ensure Senator Effiong is released unharmed.
“The Commissioner of Police is miffed about it and has promised to spare no resources in ensuring his safe rescue and the perpetrators brought to book,” he said.
