IMMINENT ISWAP ATTACK ON ROAD CONSTRUCTION WORKERS
In another desperate attempt to disrupt the return of normal activities in the North East of Nigeria, sources have uncovered an active plan by Boko Haram faction of the Islamic State of West Africa Province ( ISWAP) to launch attacks on construction workers engaged in the expansion of the 5km road network from Baga-Duguri.
The Government of Borno state under Professor Babagan Zulum has been actively working towards re-establishment of the Baga fishing activities disrupted by the 11 years insurgency.
To enable a smoother process, the BORNO state government decided to expand the Baga - Duguri logistical route for use by traders of the large fishing industry, but insecurity has always been a challenge in any activity undertaken to bring back normalcy in North East.
The BORNO state government recently launched a robust plan to commence reconstruction with the full military back up of at least 200 well armed Nigerian soldiers. The accepted mission is to provide maximum protection for the construction-related activities.
This brave engagement by gallant men and women of the Nigerian army - not properly planned and executed has the potential to bring forth disastrous battlefield implications. This comes after sources revealed an active plan by BokoHaram ISWAP units to disrupt these activities using guerilla style ambush tactics on troops and construction workers alike.
Without an adequate and robust security clearance, fishing traders face the real risk of multiple style attacks and kidnapping.
Sources have further revealed that Boko Haram ISWAP insurgents are planning to move fighters via named routes: Garin Daban Wanzam, Doron Naira, Arege and Kaiga villages.
These routes have been selected to launch attacks on fish farmers and other commuters because they have been observed to provide maximum manoeuvre and escape leads and have little or no patrol presence of Security forces.
The sources noted that in preparation for multiple attacks, the insurgents have destroyed the communication mast in Doron Baga to impact on information reporting of their movements by locals.
According to the sources, Boko Haram jihadist plan to obtain real time coordinates of positions of construction workers and deployed security forces from traders and local fishermen - forcefully recruited as undercover agents by the insurgents within Baga town and villages.
Action:
All stakeholders should plan ahead of staff deployment, liaison with security forces at all times. A need for the all deployed security personnel around Baga, Monguno and Kuwkawa to be watchful, extremely vigilant and remain alert.
If you see something say something.
