BREAKING: TROUBLE FOR OBASEKI AS APC CHOOSES IZE-IYAMU

After rigorous screening of the right candidate for the All Progressive Congress Edo governorship election, The Adams Oshiomole led faction of the State chapter of APC has chosen Ize- Iyamu as the consensus aspirant for the APC candidate.

Eze-Iyawa was the candidate for the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2016 Edo Governorship election.

No fewer than five aspirants were said to have been screened by a committee headed by Francis Alimikhena, the Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

The committee comprised of Lucky Imaseun, former Deputy Governor in the State, Cecil Esekhaigbe, a retired army General, Thomas Okosun, former Speaker of the House of Assembly, and Samson Osagie, former Minority whip in the House of Representatives.

Also in the committee were Patrick Obahaigbon, former member of the House of Representatives and Peter Akpatason, current Deputy Leader of the House of Representatives.

According to a source, Ize-Iyamu, the Pastor of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) was presented by Alimikhena as the winner of the APC faction.

The source added that Ize- Iyamo’s victory as the winner of the Oshiomole led faction might be as a result of massive support and acceptability across the State.

A source said that the All Progressive Congress party had agreed to work together with anyone who emerges winner as the consensus aspirant to stop the second term bid of the incumbent Governor, Godwin Obaseki.

Meanwhile Godwin Obaseki, Edo State Governor has said that he is confident of returning to power as the first man of the State because “power comes from God.”

The Governor who disclosed this on Wednesday, May 27, in an interview on Channels Television breakfast programme, noted that he is a man of peace, not a violent person.

“I am not a violent person. But I am confident that the way I got into power is the same way I will return.

“God gave me power. If he wants me to return I will continue. No man can stop me. Power comes from God,” he said.
