COURT JAIL 38-YEAR-OLD WOMAN OVER POSSESSION OF 4.5KG ILLICIT DRUG
A 38-year-old woman, Felicia Raymond, has been sentenced to three years imprisonment at the Federal High Court in Kaduna for dealing with 4.5kg of marijuana.
Justice Mohammed Garba delivered his judgment following the NDLEA prosecution of Raymond for illegal possession of a substance that is against the law.

The NDLEA prosecuting counsel, T. J. Atserhegh, revealed to the court that the convict was apprehended with 4.5kg of marijuana in the Ungwan Rimi area of Kaduna on 13th February 2023, based on information received on the convict’s activities in the area. Noting that the offense is punishable under Section 19 of the NDLEA Act, Cap. N30, LFN, 2004 (As Amended).
The prosecutor further noticed the plea of the convict and then reviewed the facts of the case which he urge the court to convict and sentence her according to the prescribed law under which she was charged.
But the defense lawyer, Mr. Francis Dauda, prayed the court to temper justice with mercy as his client was now remorseful of her offense and again informed the judge that the convict was a first-time offender and urged the court to consider an option of a fine rather than a custodial sentence.
Justice Garba delivered his judgment and sentenced the convict with an option of N100,000 fine.
