COVID-19: ENGLAND RETURNS TO PARTIAL LOCKDOWN
England has commenced a partial lockdown on public life from Thursday, November 5.
It was imposed to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus disease which has been surging in the country.
The lockdown, which is expected to last till December 2, comes with measures and restrictions which are similar but not as extensive as the first lockdown earlier in the year.
Restaurants, cultural facilities, sports centres, and leisure facilities are to shut down but schools and universities would remain open.
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are making their own rules to combat the virus.
England’s National Health Service was placed on its highest alert level on Wednesday as authorities say they were seriously concerned about the added pressure on health systems.
As of November 5, the UK has recorded 1,099,059 cases of COVID-19, and 47,742 deaths.
The number of daily COVID-19 deaths also rose to 492 on Wednesday, November 4, the highest toll since the start of the pandemic.
