COVID-19: OYO RECORDS HIGHEST DAILY CASES, SURPASSES LAGOS, OTHERS

Oyo State on Monday recorded 88 fresh cases of COVID-19, surpassing the daily infections in Lagos State.


According to the latest data provided by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Oyo cases surpassed that of Lagos State which accounted for 86 confirmed cases of the deadly virus.



The South West State recorded the highest daily cases followed by Lagos, Rivers and Edo which accounted for 86,55 and 54 respectively.

Ondo State on 7th February 2021 also recorded the heighest daily cases of COVID-19, surpassed Lagos and other States where infections were confirmed.


Nigeria's COVID-19 cases have increased to 140,391 after the NCDC confirmed 643 additional cases in the 36 States and the FCT.


The total deaths so far stands at 1673 since the outbreak of the pandemic, while about 114,635 have been successfully treated and discharged from various isolation centres after recovering from the disease.


Below are the number of cases and the other States affected according to Sunday's NCDC report: Akwa Ibom-53, Adamawa-52, Plateau-45, Kaduna-41, FCT-34, Kwara-27, Benue-20, Kano-19, Delta-18, Nasarawa-16, Niger-15, Bayelsa-11, Borno-5, Bauchi-2 and Sokoto-2.



"Our discharges today include 744 community recoveries in Lagos State, 100 in Rivers State, 78 in Plateau State, 72 in Kaduna State and 2 in Benue State managed in line with guidelines," NCDC stated.


Meanwhile, Lagos State is still the epicenter of the infection in Nigeria with 51,771 confirmed cases. 45,993 patients have been discharged after receiving treatment while 344 have lost their lives to the deadly virus.
