CUSTOMS KANO/JIGAWA AREA COMMAND COMPLETES GOVERNMENT AGENCIES' TOUR, HANDS OVER VARIOUS ILLEGALLY SEIZED ITEMS

The Nigeria Customs Service's Kano/Jigawa Area Command concluded its courtesy calls with key delegates from various government agencies and officially handed over numerous illegally seized commodities.


In a press statement released on 6th December 2023 by Customs Superintendent Saidu Nuruddeen, on behalf of the Controller of Kano/Jigawa Command, the handover ceremony took place at Customs House, Bompai, Kano State.


During the event, Comptroller Dauda Ibrahim Chana emphasized that this marked a significant step in collaborative measures to combat illegal activities and protect public health.


He officially handed over the following seized items to respective government agencies:


- 665 pieces of Donkey Skins to the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Services (NAQS).

- 450 blocks of Cannabis Sativa to the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency.

- 1290 cartons of expired and unregistered Pharmaceuticals to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Kano.


Comptroller Dauda highlighted the importance of the robust partnership and efforts between the Nigeria Customs Service and these key government agencies, exemplifying their allegiance to sustaining the rule of law and guaranteeing public safety.


"The collaborative efforts between the Nigeria Customs Service and these key government agencies demonstrate our commitment to upholding the rule of law, ensuring public safety, and protecting the integrity of our communities," he enunciated.


Comptroller Chana emphasized the primacy of such joint endeavours, stating, "The successful coordination and cooperation between our organization and our esteemed partner agencies exemplify our shared dedication to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all citizens. We remain resolute in our commitment to eradicating illegal activities that pose a threat to our society."


The receiving agencies expressed appreciation for the Command's continued support and cooperation, highlighting the significance of inter-agency cooperation in handling the complexities the job requires.


The Kano/Jigawa Area Command expressed gratitude to the public for ongoing support and teamwork, vowing to remain resolute in fostering robust alliances with government agencies, stakeholders, and the community at large to ensure everyone's well-being and safety.
