EFCC ARRESTS VARSITY VICE-CHANCELLOR OVER ALLEGED 260M FRAUD
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested the Vice-Chancellor (VC), Federal University, Gusau, Professor Magaji Garba, over an alleged N260M fraud.
Wilson Uwajuren, EFCC spokesperson, confirmed the development on Monday, February 1.
Professor Garba was invited by the Anti-Graft agency last week Thursday for questioning over allegations of abuse of office, corrupt practices and contract scam.
It was learnt that the VC collected the sum of N260 million from a certain Alhaji Shehu Sambo, the owner of Ministaco Nigeria Limited, in 2018, with an agreement that the university was going to award him a contract worth N3 billion for the construction of the school’s perimeter fence.
Alhaji Sambo wrote a petition to the EFCC after the university failed to award him the contract which led to the Commission's decision to detain the Vice-Chancellor.
