EIGHT SUSPECTS ARRAIGNED OVER RAPE, MURDER OF UNILORIN UNDERGRADUATE
Eight suspects who raped and killed UNILORIN student, Blessing Olajide were arraigned before Justice Ibrahim Yusuf of the Kwara State High Court, Ilorin.
Olajide was raped and viciously murdered in her apartment at Tanke along the University of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital. The deceased was a 300-level student of the Department of Agriculture at the University of Ilorin from Oke-Opin community in Ekiti LGA.
The suspected murderers are, Ismail Abdulazeez, Ajala Moses Olutimilehin (Jack Lord), Oyeyemi Timilehin, Kareem Osioyemi Rasheed (Rashworld), Abdulkareem Shuaib, Abdullateef Abdulrahman, Daudu Adebayo and Akande Taiye Oladoja.
They were arraigned on an eleven-count charge of conspiracy to commit crime, theft, rape, receiving stolen goods, and culpable homicide.
It was gathered that the arraignment could not hold properly as three of the defendants failed to provide legal representation.
We also discovered that three out of the eight suspected killers gang-raped Olajide to death and this has sparked series of reactions as many demanded that justice must be served.
The judge, however, directed that the suspects be remanded in the Mandala prison facility in Ilorin, the state capital.
