HERDSMEN MACHETES RETIRED SCHOOL PRINCIPAL IN IBARAPA

Herdsmen on Friday attacked a retired school principal with machetes at the Isokun area of Igangan in the Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State.


The victim identified as Mr. Ojedokun Ogunmodede was left with a nearly severed hand as the herders used machetes to inflict deep cuts on his two hands. 

Eons Intelligence gathered that the herders attacked the retired principal who was trying to venture into agriculture at about 2 pm on Friday. 


Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi, the Police spokesperson in Oyo State who has confirmed the incident described the incident as a reprisal attack.

He said investigations revealed that a Fulani man was earlier attacked on his farm in Ayete and the assailants caused injury to his hands with a machete.

Recall that youths in Ibarapa led by Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo, a.ka Sunday Igboho evicted herders from their community because of alleged criminal acts such as kidnapping, banditry, and other nefarious activities. 

ADVISORY: Perpetrators of the crime should be identified and brought to book to avert reprisal attacks or another herder-farmers conflict in Oyo state.
