Former Niger State Permanent Secretary Stabbed to Death by 18-Year-Old Car Painter in Minna
Former Permanent Secretary in the Niger State Civil Service, Architect Adamu Jagaba, was tragically stabbed to death by his 18-year-old car painter, Fatiyah Abdulhakeem, at his block industry along the Eastern Bypass, Minna. The incident occurred on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
According to a statement from the Niger State Police Command, Abdulhakeem trespassed into Jagaba’s business premises, where he launched a brutal attack, stabbing him multiple times in the head and neck. The suspect then fled the scene in the victim’s Toyota Camry (registration number MNA 61 AE). Jagaba was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The police were alerted to the crime at approximately 3:00 p.m., and investigations commenced immediately. Later that evening, around 7:00 p.m., officers from the police Crack Squad intercepted the stolen vehicle along Bosso Estate Road in Minna. Abdulhakeem was arrested, and during interrogation, he confessed to the crime.
“I visited him to discuss changing the vehicle bumper. Afterward, I deliberately stabbed him several times with a knife on the head and neck and hit him repeatedly with a stapler in his office,” Abdulhakeem admitted.
He further revealed that some of Jagaba’s workers had provided him with inside information to facilitate the attack. Abdulhakeem also named other accomplices who were involved in the conspiracy.
The police assured the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend all those connected to the heinous crime. "We are determined to bring all those involved in this incident to justice," said the Niger State Police Command.
In a detailed statement, the police explained: “On December 7, 2024, at about 3:00 p.m., a report of culpable homicide was received at Tudun-Wada Division. It was reported that at about 11:30 a.m., a suspect trespassed into a block industry located along the Eastern Bypass, Minna, attacked and stabbed one Adamu Jagaba multiple times before fleeing with his vehicle.
“The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was confirmed dead. Police operatives visited the scene and commenced investigations into the unfortunate incident.”
Abdulhakeem is set to be charged to court upon the completion of the investigation, while the search for other suspects involved in the crime continues.
