WIKE SUPPORTERS STAGE PEACEFUL PROTEST IN PORT HARCOURT
For the second time in less than 48 hours, supporters of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, gathered for a peaceful protest in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Saturday morning. The demonstration, mainly comprised of youths, took place around the Polio Club in the Government Reserved Area (GRA).
The protesters aimed to draw attention to their claim that no local council elections were held in the state. They asserted that their actions were in compliance with the Abuja Federal High Court judgment, which directed the police and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to abstain from the polls.
Despite the ongoing protest, the local government elections commenced in all 23 local government areas of Rivers State. Election materials were distributed across wards and units in all the local government areas.
