NIS Condemns Fatal Attack on Kebbi Border Checkpoint, Orders Tactical Reinforcement
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has condemned the violent attack on its Bakin Ruwa Checkpoint under the Tuga Border Patrol Formation in Kebbi State, which resulted in the deaths of three personnel.
The incident occurred on Thursday, 27 November 2025, at about 10:00 p.m., when unidentified armed men launched a coordinated assault on the facility, destroying operational assets and other structures at the location.
In a statement released on Saturday, 29 November 2025, the NIS expressed deep condolences to the families, colleagues, and loved ones of the slain officers, commending their dedication and sacrifice in the service of protecting Nigeria’s borders.
Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, has directed a swift tactical response to the attack. Measures ordered include the deployment of reinforcements, intensified joint operations with other security agencies, strengthened intelligence gathering along the Tuga axis, and heightened patrols aimed at restoring security in the area.
The Service reaffirmed its resolve to secure the nation’s borders and stated that such criminal acts will not deter ongoing efforts. It also urged members of the public to remain calm and continue cooperating with security agencies working to maintain safety and stability.
