FULANI MILITIA KILL 20 PERSONS, INJURE SEVERAL OTHERS IN FRESH ATTACK IN KADUNA

Residents of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, are in distress as suspected fulani militia invaded the community and killed 20 persons leaving several injured, Channels TV reports.


The incident happened on Thursday, August 6th, 2020.


The attack happened in three communities; Kurmin Masara, Apyia Shyim, and Takmawai.


The fresh killings comes few days after security agencies were deployed to the vulnerable communities of the state to prevent residents from further attacks.

Recall that the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had directed the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Police Command, to deploy both human and material assets of the Intervention Squad currently on the ground in the State to safeguard the lives and property of people in the communities.


The Chairman of Zango Kataf Local Government, Elias Manza, told Channels TV that the gunmen, suspected to be Fulani militia, invaded the three communities in the early hours of Thursday morning, and started shooting sporadically at houses.


Manza revealed that the seven people were killed in Takmawai, while the 13 others were killed in Kurmin Masara.


Speaking further, the Chairman said that several houses were burnt down by the attackers while residents have fled from their homes to neighbouring communities for fear of more attacks.


Recall that Eons Intelligence reported that the Kaduna State Government imposed a 24-hour curfew in Zangon Kataf and Kauru Local Government Areas on June 11th, 2020.


In the last two months, Kaduna State has been ravaged by violence and insecurity characterised with kidnappings, cattle rustling, mass killings, and destruction of farmlands.
