GOVERNOR ABIODUN CALLS FOR CALM OVER POOR STATE OF ROADS IN SANGO OTA

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has called for calm over the poor condition of the roads in the Sango area of the State.

He disclosed this in a statement on Monday, October 19, 2020.

He said his Government would do everything humanly possible, not only to fix the roads in the State, especially, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, but would ensure that the people enjoy a “better life”.

He said; “Rest assured, our Administration will do every and anything that will ensure a better life for the people.

”Already, we have alongside the Lagos State Government approached and consistently pleaded with the Federal Government, to cede these critical roads among others, but we are still awaiting a positive response, so that we may ensure safe travels for the good people of Ogun State.

“You'd recall that the first two road projects embarked on and completed within our first one year in office are in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, namely: the Osi Ikola-Navy and AIT/Raypower roads, showing our unalloyed commitment to our collective and unbiased betterment.

“The condition of these roads has been made worse by the current rains despite the palliative works we have been carrying out pending the expected positive response from the FG.”

Governor Abiodun gave the assurance following agitations for the reconstruction of Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta; Ota-Idiroko and Sango-Joju roads in the industrial town by #EndSARS protesters.

Abiodun, while appealing to residents of the State, stressed that permanent solutions would be brought to these roads very soon.

He stated that his Administration has already carried out palliative works on the Ota-Idiroko Road, while plans were in top gear to do the same on the Sango-Joju Road, where more materials and equipment would be delivered this week.

Abiodun disclosed that the Sango-Joju Road had last week been approved by the Tenders Board, and is now awaiting award and ratification by the State Executive Council.

According to the statement, Governor Abiodun said he understood the plight of the people, adding that he would not allow any security agency to stifle the voices of demonstrators who are exercising their fundamental right of association, assembly and peaceful protests.
