GOVERNOR MAKINDE VISITS LAUTECH TEACHING HOSPITAL, COMMISSIONS MRI BUILDING

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday, August 12th, 2020, visited the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, to commission the MRI building.


He also equipped the building with state of the art equipment.


This development was confirmed by the Governor via his official Twitter handle.


It was also gathered that the Governor came to inspect the ongoing construction of the isolation centre in the hospital.


Speaking on the occasion, the chief medical director and various heads of unions such as Joint Health Union, Association of Resident Doctors and others used the opportunity to talk on the challenges facing the teaching hospital and to show appreciation on the prompt payment of salaries and the COVID-19 palliative given to the workers.


Makinde promised to commence the payment of minimum wage with immediate effect, announcing the increment of subvention to the teaching hospital among other benefits.


In a message on his verified Twitter handle, Governor Makinde wrote, “Today, we visited the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso to discuss the challenges in the hospital.


“I conveyed my approval on a number of issues: Payment of 2014 corrected CONMESS; payment of COVID-19 hazard allowance.


“Increased subvention to cover payment of minimum wage, payment of 2016 and 2017 arrears as well as payment of the salaries of 177 members of staff who were recalled.


“These payments will be made by the end of this month.


“A team will screen the 46 staff members who were disengaged from next Monday, and if the screening is successful, they will be reinstated.


“Implementation of a pilot study for semi-autonomy for selected secondary healthcare facilities.


“Implementation of residency training and placement of doctors who have completed their residency training from 2021.


“I reiterated that although most of these issues were inherited from the previous administration, we are committed to resolving them while at the same time, ensuring that the good people of Oyo State reap all the benefits of good governance.”
