I WILL IMPOSE A SECOND LOCKDOWN IN KADUNA IF THE RATE OF INFECTIONS CONTINUE TO RISE – GOVERNOR EL-RUFAI WARNS KADUNA RESIDENTS
Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai, has warned residents of the State that he would not hesitate to impose another lockdown in the State if the cases of COVID-19 keep surging.
He gave this warning on Wednesday, December 9, when he hosted the former Minister of State for Health, Idi Hong, in Government House, Kaduna.
El-Rufai revealed that the State has been recording 30% increase on a daily basis in the last two months.
He has immediately directed that all employees of the State Government to undergo a mandatory COVID-19 test as part of efforts to contain the spread of the virus in the state.
“I will impose a second lockdown of the entire state if the rate of infections continues to rise,” he said.
He stated that many residents of the State had refused to abide by all the COVID-19 protocols as directed by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
He also warned residents ahead of the Christmas festivities to avoid large gatherings and adhere to other safety measures that will prevent them from contracting COVID-19 during and after the festivities.
According to the NCDC, as of December 10, Kaduna has recorded 3,501 cases of covid-19, 3,099 recoveries, and 47 deaths.
