INSURGENCY: SOLDIERS KILLED 89 BANDITS IN ZAMFARA
Soldiers of Operation Hadarin Daji, in collaboration with Troops of 35 Battalion and Quick Response Group of 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, killed Eighty-nine armed bandits along Gidan Jaja in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
During the operation, a total of five abducted victims, three females, two males were rescued by the troops, and an unconfirmed number of bandits escaped with gunshot wounds, the army said.
In a statement signed by the Coordinator Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche, the Nigerian army secured no loss of men or equipment.
"Items recovered include 19 AK 47 rifles, 1 PKT machine gun, nine magazines, 167 rounds of 7.2 (Special), one dane gun, and one locally made pistol," the statement said.
Three hundred twenty-two rustled cows, 77 motorcycles, and nine cell phones were amongst the items recovered during the operation.
The statement says the army will conduct a formal handover of the kidnap victims and other recovered items soon
