Kano Police Arrest Two Suspects with N150 Million Worth of Tramadol, Hand Over Case to NDLEA
Operatives of the Kano State Police Command has arrested two individuals, Muntari Shu’aibu (28) and Imrana Rabi’u (25), for allegedly trafficking a large quantity of the banned substance, Tramadol, valued at over N150 million.
According to a statement from the Command, the suspects were apprehended during a well-coordinated intelligence-led operation, following a credible tip-off. Police recovered six bales (cartons) of the suspected illicit drug from the suspects.
“This operation highlights our ongoing efforts to tackle the enablers of violent crime, with drug trafficking and abuse being key contributors,” the Command stated. “We remain steadfast in our mission to protect lives and ensure public safety across the state.”
In a continued show of inter-agency cooperation, the suspects and the seized items have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Command, for further investigation and prosecution.
The Police noted that the handover aligns with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, who has emphasized inclusive policing and stronger synergy among security agencies.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to working with other law enforcement bodies in the fight against drug-related crimes and other forms of criminality in Kano State.
