LAGOS STATE COMMISSIONER OF HEALTH, PROF AKIN ABAYOMI RECOVERS FROM COVID-19

The Commissioner of Health in Lagos State, Prof. Akin Abayomi has recovered from COVID-19.


This was announced by Gbenga Omotoso, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Lagos State.


Recall, on August 24th, 2020, Eons Intelligence reported that the Commissioner tested positive and immediately went on self-isolation.


Following the mandatory isolation, Prof. Abayomi retook a COVID-19 PCR test which came out negative on Sunday evening, August 30th, 2020.


The Commissioner is very grateful to God, and is humbled by the deep concern shown and expressed by Executive Council members, civil servants, residents of Lagos, through prayers, messages, phone calls, and gifts.


He will be returning to his full duties gradually and remains resolute in delivering the mandate of Governor Sanwo-Olu whom he says stood by him steadfastly.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, the incident Commander, is excited by the news and urges Lagosians to realize that COVID-19 is still with us, and they should obey all protocols.


According to the NCDC, as of August 31st, 2020, Lagos State has recorded 18,188 cases of COVID-19 making it the nation's infection epicentre.


Of the 18,188 cases, 2,578 are on admission in the isolation centres, 15,228 discharges have been made, and 202 deaths have been recorded.
