NDLEA ARRESTS PREGNANT WOMAN, OTHERS WITH 5,441 KG NARCOTICS ACROSS 8 STATES

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested a 27-year-old pregnant woman, Eze Joy Chioma with 1,442 kilograms of imported skunk in Lagos. 

She was arrested on Friday, 17th of December, at Ojo. NDLEA, in a release said follow-up raids at other locations led to the arrest of four men, including a 62-year-old Basset Emmanuel, who was in posession of 182,000 tablets of Tramadol, while another suspect, Michael Oroke was arrested with 29kg of the illicit drugs within the vicinity.

The statement was signed by Mr Femi Babafemi, the Agency's Director of Media and Advocacy. It said operatives raided a drug den in Abule-Egba area of the State the previous day, where one Basset Emmanuel, Ezekwem Lawrence, Mohammed Aliyu, and Suwidi Isiaku were arrested with 182,000 tablets of Tramadol.

The Agency said there were similar raids across eight other States, leading to the recovery of more than 4,000 kilograms of illicit drugs. In a major feat on Saturday, operatives intercepted a consignment of Tramadol in a commercial bus. The follow up operation led to the arrest of one Shradrack Udechukwu, who also had other substances like Heroin, Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Cannabis Sativa, Tramadol, Exol-5, Swinol, and Diazepam in his posession.

In other developments, one Timi Sunday was arrested with 95.945kg of cannabis. Another suspect, Musa Sani with 10.5kg cannabis and one Yaro Bala was also arrested with 65kg cannabis at separate locations in Kogi State.


"In Edo State, one Francis Eferi was arrested with 481kg cannabis and Emmanuel Amu with 81kg cannabis at Sobe. In Ekiti, 1,420kg cannabis was recovered from Ara in Ikole LGA, while in Akure, Ondo state, operatives arrested one Mrs. Grace Henry at her residence at Itamo with 573kg cannabis. In other parts of the state, 450kg cannabis was seized and another 420.5kg cannabis at Ogkogu camp, Ipele, Owo", the statement read.
