NEMA ISSUES FLOOD ALERT, LISTS 13 STATE TO EXPERIENCE FLOOD
About 13 states and 50 communities have been listed by The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to likely witness heavy rainfall that may result in flooding between 13th and 17th September 2023.
Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, Lagos Territorial Coordinator, NEMA, acknowledged the
National Flood Early Warning Systems (FEWS) Central Hub, Federal Ministry of Environment Abuja in its predictions. And has hereby listed the states and communities below.
Kano State; Sumaila and Kunchi communities may likely be affected. Kebbi State; Argungu community. Katsina State; Bindawa, Jibia, Kaita, Katsina communities would be affected. Niger State; Kontagora, Mashegu, and New Bussa communities. Kwara State; Kosubosu community should expect floods.
Zamfara State; Kaura Namoda and Shinkafi communities. Bauchi State; Bajoga, Darazo, Kirfi, Azare, Jama ‘are, Itas, Misau; Taraba, with Bali, Donga, Lau, Serti, Mutum-Biyu, Yorro communities. Borno State; Briyel, Biu, Dikwa, Kukawa communities are not left out.
Adamawa State; Ganye, Mubi, Demsa, Jimeta, Mayo Belwa, Numan, Shelleng, Song, communities. Yobe State; Dapchi, Gashua, Geidam, Kanamma, Machina, Potiskum communities would be affected.
Gombe State; Nafada community. Jigawa State; Dutse, Gumel, Gwaram, Miga communities would be affected.
Due to the rise in the water levels of Rivers Benue and Niger, communities along the two Rivers, navigating to Bayelsa State were urged to take prudent measures in the coming days.
