Rivers State Donates Helicopter to NAF to Strengthen Security Operations

The Rivers State Government has donated an AgustaWestland (AW) 139 helicopter to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to enhance security operations in the Niger Delta, particularly in protecting critical national infrastructure.

Speaking at the handover ceremony in Port Harcourt, Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies in safeguarding lives, combating illegal oil bunkering, and promoting economic stability.

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, expressed gratitude to the Rivers State Government for its support, emphasizing that the AW139’s advanced capabilities would enhance NAF’s rapid response missions. He also acknowledged the Federal Government’s continued investment in strengthening NAF’s operational capacity through fleet expansion.

Air Marshal Abubakar commended the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his commitment to modernizing the NAF, particularly through the acquisition of advanced platforms such as the T-129 ATAK helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). He noted that these enhancements would further bolster NAF’s ability to protect Nigeria’s economic assets and ensure national security.
