
Nigerian Army Neutralizes Terrorists, Arrests 56 Suspects, Rescues 9 Victims in Nationwide Operations
The Nigerian Army has intensified counter-terrorism and internal security operations across the country, recording major successes between September 7 and 9, 2025.
In the North East, troops of 192 Battalion in Gwoza Local Government Area (LGA), Borno State, secured the surrender of a family member of ISWAP/JAS terrorists from Kunde village in the Mandara mountains. Similarly, soldiers of 120 Task Force Battalion at Ngirboa in Gujba LGA, Yobe State, repelled an attempted terrorist attack and recovered 20 rounds of belted 7.62mm NATO ammunition.
In the North West, troops of 8 Division Garrison engaged terrorists in Garin Bature, Sabon Birni LGA, Sokoto State, and later recovered 143 rustled sheep in Garbe Kanni village, Tureta LGA. Soldiers of 17 Brigade neutralized a terrorist during a patrol in Sabuwa LGA, Katsina State. In Zamfara, the 1 Brigade Combat Team rescued eight kidnapped victims in Dan Marke and recovered 21 rustled sheep in Anka LGA.
In the South West and Abuja, troops of 2 Division Garrison, working with the Department of State Services (DSS), arrested 10 suspected internet fraudsters in Ajegunle, Kishi LGA, Oyo State. Likewise, troops of 7 Guards Battalion and personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) raided the Idu Industrial Area in Abuja Municipal Area Council, arresting 42 suspects, including a police officer allegedly providing cover for criminal activity.
In the North Central, troops of Sector 4, Operation Enduring Peace, rescued one kidnapped civilian in Barkin Ladi LGA, Plateau State.
In the South South, security forces recorded multiple breakthroughs. Troops of 5 Battalion with NSCDC operatives intercepted a vehicle transporting 300 litres of illegally refined diesel (AGO) in Yenagoa LGA, Bayelsa State. Similarly, 103 Battalion with 16 Brigade Garrison dismantled illegal refining equipment in Ahoada West LGA, Rivers State, while troops of 146 Battalion arrested two suspected sea pirates in Bonny LGA and recovered locally made weapons alongside a fibre boat. Additionally, operatives of Operation Delta Safe, working with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), arrested four drug suspects in Southern Ijaw and Ogbia LGAs of Bayelsa State.
The Army confirmed that all arrested suspects and seized items are being processed in line with established procedures.
Reaffirming its commitment, the Nigerian Army stated that the operations are aimed at restoring peace and security, while also creating a safer environment to support agricultural growth and advance the Federal Government’s drive towards food security.
