Nigerian Defence Academy Issues Safety Warning Ahead of Live-Fire Exercise in Kaduna
The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has issued a safety advisory to residents of Afaka, Kauya, and Mando in Kaduna State, urging them to stay away from its open range area during an upcoming shooting exercise.
This was announced in a statement by the Academy’s Public Relations Officer, Maj. Muhammad Maidawa, on Tuesday in Kaduna, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The live-fire exercise is scheduled to take place from February 26 to March, as part of the advanced fire application training for the Army Cadets of the 72 Regular Course.
Maj. Maidawa emphasized that the training will involve live arms fire, which is critical for the skill development and combat readiness of the cadets. Safety measures, including barriers and warning signs, will be placed around the designated range areas to indicate restricted zones.
"Residents, particularly farmers, pedestrians, and cattle rearers, are strongly advised to adhere to these warnings and avoid the area for their own safety during the exercise," Maidawa said.
The NDA reassured the public that the safety and well-being of the surrounding communities remain a top priority and called for cooperation from community members to prevent any accidental harm and ensure the smooth execution of the training.
By staying away from the restricted zones, the residents will help safeguard their lives while supporting the effective training of future military personnel, Maidawa added.
