NSCDC DEPLOYS 6,433 PERSONNEL FOR EDO GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has charged the 6,433 officers and men deployed for the Edo State Governorship Election to remain apolitical, act professionally, and maintain discipline while on election duty .


Dr. Audi emphasized that the NSCDC has a vital role in protecting critical national assets and infrastructure. He noted that securing election materials, both sensitive and non-sensitive, is crucial for operatives before, during, and after the election .

The NSCDC will deploy over 300 operatives each from Ondo, Delta, Kogi, Osun, Imo, and Enugu Commands. The Edo State Command has approximately 3,626 officers on the ground, while Rivers and Bayelsa State Commands will provide 400 and 350 personnel, respectively .


Additionally, 607 Special Forces from the National Headquarters will be deployed, comprising the Commandant General's Special Intelligence Squad, Special Female Squad, Anti-Vandal Squad, Chemical Biological Radiological and Explosive Unit, and Kennel (K9) Unit.


Dr. Audi stated, "Our deployment will cover all nooks and crannies, including flashpoints, ensuring sufficient personnel across wards, polling units, collation centers, INEC offices, and other areas." He emphasized synergy with other security agencies to ensure peaceful elections .


The Commandant General warned politicians against heating up the polity and advised against violence, thuggery, and electoral malpractices. He also cautioned parents and guardians to prevent their children from being used as instruments of violence.


Dr. Audi directed Deputy Commandant General Philip Ayuba to oversee the deployed personnel's supervision, monitoring, and coordination before, during, and after the elections.
