CUSTOMS ARRESTS DUBAI BOUND PASSENGER WITH 2886 ATM CARDS

Officers of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have arrested a Dubai-bound male passenger in possession of 2,886 Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards and four SIM cards. 

Customs officials found the ATM cards hidden in a noodles carton while the suspect identified as Ishaq Abubakar Abubakar was trying to board an evacuation flight to Dubai on Saturday, August 22.


While handing the suspect over to EFCC, the Deputy Controller of Customs, MMIA Area Command, Abdulmumin Bako revealed that Abubakar travelled with passport number A08333717 from Kano State. He was to travel to Dubai via an Emirates flight when officers on duty intercepted him.

Abdulrasheed Bawa, the Lagos Zonal Head, EFCC, said investigations would commence immediately, adding that the ATM cards could be used for money laundering or other foreign exchange malpractices.

The EFCC Zonal Head said there had been a recent hike of Nigerians selling their bank accounts to fraudsters.
