NLC, TUC BEGIN NATIONWIDE PROTEST OVER HARDSHIP ON NIGERIANS
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in conjunction with The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) today 2nd August 2023 launched a nationwide protest over the ‘anti-poor and anti-workers policies’ from the federal government on Nigerians despite talks with the Federal Government on short-term palliatives yesterday.
The unions expressed the protest against the unfavourable policies of the Federal Government on hikes in fuel prices which has aggravated hardship across the nation.
Although, the unions are not demanding the reversal of the removal of subsidy but request measures in place to ameliorate its effect on Nigerians which include fixing the refineries and possibly building more; functional transportation systems; living wages, good medical facilities and employment.
Meanwhile, the unions have requested an end to these "inhuman actions and policies" by the Federal government.
