NSCDC NAB TWO SUSPECTS FOR CHILD TRAFFICKING IN JIGAWA
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested two suspected human traffickers in Jigawa State.
The suspects, 65-year-old Audu Sambo of Unguwar Dorawa village, Gwiwa LGA, and 37-year-old Dahiru Usman of Maje village in Roni LGA were arrested on Wednesday 9 November 2022.
One of the suspects, Audu Sambo, who is a father to the victim reported the issue to the NSCDC Divisional office in Gwiwa, claiming that he tried to get his daughter back through the agent (Dahiru Usman) but it proved abortive for the over five months.
After interrogation of the agent (Dahiru Usman) by the Anti-human Trafficking Unit of the Command, the suspect confessed to having taken the girl to Katsina twice, spending about 2 years with the consent of her father (Audu Sambo), who used to receive N5,000 monthly from the client in Katsina.
According to him, he confessed but denied knowing that the girl was taken to Abuja to serve another woman.
"Have taken four other girls aged 16, 14, 13, and 12 respectively to the same woman in Katsina, one Hajiya Maimuna and two to another lady, called Aunty Sadiya in Abuja".
“I got paid whenever I took girls to them and also from the parents when the girls return,” he confessed.
The NSCDC State Commandant advised parents to desist from giving out under-aged children to serve as domestic workers as it exposes them to exploitation and other social vices.
The case is under investigation after which they will be prosecuted.
