NIGERIAN ARMY DEBUNKS REPORTS THAT ITS PERSONNEL ON DUTY AT THE NDA CCTV ROOM WERE SLEEPING WHEN BANDITS ATTACKED THE OFFICERS’ QUARTERS
The Nigerian Army has debunked reports claiming that its personnel on duty at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) CCTV monitoring room were sleeping when bandits attacked the officers' residential quarters leading to the death of two officers and the abduction of one other officer.
In a press statement by Maj.Gen. Benjamin Olufemi Sawyerr, the Director Defence Information, the claims are false and hence challenge the Cable online to publish evidence of its personnel sleeping during the invasion.
The Army warned Cabal online not to partner with unscrupulous elements to spread unverified stories on the unfortunate incident that occured at the NDA camp.
It noted that the Army Forces of Nigeria (AFN) is a highly professional force comprising of highly trained personnel who are dedicatig their duties to protecting the lives and properties of Nigerians.
Maj. Gen. Sawyerr added that the NDA authorities have set up a board on enquiry to investigate the cause of the breach of security with a view to sanction any personnel found culpable.
