CBN SETS TO SUPPORT FARMERS WITH N432BN
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on Thursday, June 18, 2020, announced that it will support farmers with the sum of N432 billion in nine major commodities for the 2020 planting season.
The commodities include rice, maize, poultry, cassava, tomatoes, fish, cotton, cocoa, and dairy.
The Director of Development Finance at the CBN, Mr Yusuf Yila, made the announcement at a meeting organized by the apex bank for farmers under its Anchor Borrowers’ Scheme, in Abuja.
According to Yila, it is expected that the farmers produce over 8.3 million metric tonnes of the targeted commodities.
