US ELECTION: VOTE OUT DONALD TRUMP – BIDEN URGES AMERICANS

With 24 hours left until Election Day in the US, Democratic presidential candidate, Joe Biden, has told Americans to vote out President Donald Trump.

He said this on Sunday, November 1, while campaigning in Pennsylvania.

Biden said; “We have to earn our democracy. We have to get out and vote.

“We’re at an inflection point. So we have to vote like we never did before. Every day – every day – is a new reminder of how high the stakes are, of how far the other side will go to try to suppress the turnout, especially here in Philadelphia.

“President Trump is terrified what will happen in Pennsylvania. He knows that if you get to have your say, he doesn’t stand a chance, so vote him out.

“There’s too much on the line to sit it out, we only have two more days. In two more days, we can put an end to this presidency that has from the very beginning sought to divide us, to tear us apart.”

The former Vice President also condemned President Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, which has affected black communities in the US and has made it the world’s infection epicentre.

The US has a total number of 9, 038, 030 COVID-19 cases and 232, 084 deaths.

According to a data from an ABC News/Ipsos poll, just 35% of Americans approved of how the President has handled the crisis.

“It’s almost criminal the way he’s handled it,” he said, vowing a stronger test and trace operation and “full, fair and free distribution of therapeutics”.

“It’s a mass casualty event in the black community and it’s totally unnecessary,” he said

Biden also pledged to address racism in the US and said George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and other black people killed by the police would not be forgotten.

“The only thing that can tear America apart is America itself and that’s exactly what Trump has been trying to do.

“It’s wrong, it’s not who we are. We choose hope over fear, unity over division, science over fiction and yes truth over lies, the multiple lies he repeats,’’ he said.

On Tuesday, November 3, Americans will decide who their next President would be, either voting for Trump to proceed on a second term or hand over the keys of the White House to Biden.

According to the United States Elections Project, Joe Biden, who was Barack Obama's vice-President and has been in US politics since the 1970s, is currently leading the US President in the national polls.

Results from the polls indicate that over half of Americans intend to back Joe Biden while Trump’s support trails this by around five or six points.

Joe Biden has been ahead of Donald Trump in most national polls since the start of the year. He has amassed around 50% in recent months and has had a 10-point lead on occasions.
