POLICE FOIL GUNMEN ATTACK IN IMO STATE TRADITIONAL RULER'S PALACE
The operatives of Imo State Police Command with the synergy of the Local Vigilantes of Amaifeke ancient Kingdom on 18th July 2023 at about 1415hrs foiled the attack of gunmen on the Chairman, Council of Imo Traditional Rulers, Eze Emmanuel Okeke, at his Amaifeke palace, Orlu LGA, Imo State.
The information available indicates that the hoodlums came in their numbers to invade the Traditional Ruler's palace, and were shooting sporadically, fighting their way into the palace.
Consequently, the police operatives collaborated with local vigilante operatives tactically taking vintage positions and resisted the hoodlums in a gun duel engagement.
The hoodlums were overpowered by the operatives and retracted into the bush with degrees of gunshot injuries which were confirmed when the operatives combed the bush.
During the operation, two of the local vigilante operatives were fatally wounded by gunshot and rushed to the hospital for medical attention but unfortunately lost one of them.
Meanwhile, the police have launched a tactical manhunt on the hoodlums, while all hospital in the environs has been ordered to report to the police if anyone with a gunshot wound come for treatment.
